How to take care of your products

Leather Products

Leather is an excellent companion for outdoor adventures: it’s durable, looks great, and only gets better with age. With a little care, your leather goods will stay in great condition for years.

1. Keep it clean: Wipe away dirt and dust with a soft cloth. If the leather gets very dirty, use a slightly damp cloth or a cleaner specifically designed for leather. Avoid excessive use of water.

2. Condition occasionally: Leather benefits from regular care. Apply a leather conditioner or balm when the surface starts to feel dry—usually a couple of times a year is enough. If you expect rain or very humid conditions, you can treat the leather with a protective product in advance.

3. Let it dry naturally: If the leather gets wet, allow it to dry at room temperature. Avoid placing it near direct heat sources like fires or radiators, as heat can dry out and harden the leather.

4. Store smartly: Let your leather product breathe in a dry place. Avoid direct sunlight and damp storage areas.

5. Signs of life are part of the story: Small scratches, darkening, and patina tell the story of your journeys—they make the leather uniquely yours.

Enamel Products

Enamelware can be cleaned in a dishwasher if needed. However, strong detergents may gradually reduce the glossy finish. Enamel is a durable and hard material, but under heavy impact it can chip or break like glass. Handle your items with care—avoid dropping or knocking them to keep them with you on many adventures.

Knife

Knife blades are made from stainless steel or carbon steel. Carbon steel may darken over time (developing a patina), which does not affect its performance. Do not store a wet knife in its sheath, as this may cause rust. You can easily sharpen the blade with a fine sharpening tool, such as a diamond sharpener, by gently following the edge at a slightly steeper angle. The sheath can be treated with leather grease if needed.

Textile Products

Following care instructions is important, as they are based on tested properties to ensure your product remains in the best possible condition.

  • Always follow the care label instructions.
  • Sort laundry by color, level of dirt, and required washing temperature and cycle.
  • Wash dark and light textiles separately. Always wash whites separately in plenty of water.
  • Turn garments inside out before washing to reduce shrinkage, stretching, streaking, pilling, and color fading.

Wool Products

The best way to freshen wool is by airing it out. If needed, stained wool garments can be hand-washed in lukewarm water or machine-washed on a hand-wash program. Always use a detergent suitable for wool. Note that indigo-dyed yarn may release some color during the first washes. Dry wool garments flat and reshape them to their original dimensions. At first, wool may feel slightly itchy or rough, but it softens quickly with use.
