Enamel mug – a hiker’s classic
The enamel mug has been a trusted companion for hikers for decades. Its roots go back to the 19th century, when enamel coating began to be used to protect metal cookware. The combination of steel and durable enamel made the items lightweight, hygienic, and highly resistant to heat and wear—qualities that are still valued by anyone spending time in nature today.
The enamel mug quickly became popular among hikers thanks to its practicality and versatility. Today, it is both a functional outdoor essential and a timeless design object. It fits perfectly in national park wilderness huts and campfire sites, on cottage docks, as well as in the home kitchen.
The enamel mug we designed for Finnish national parks has been one of our best-selling products since the very beginning. It is produced by the long-established Finnish company Muurla Design. Enamel and enameling techniques have been used for centuries, and our products are still manufactured in the EU using traditional methods. Our National Parks Finland enamel mug reminds us that the best moments are often made of simple things: a hot drink and a moment in nature.
Inspired by the success of the mug, we have created an entire National Parks Finland product family, which we continue to develop.
